Shakespeare Bookshelf
The complete works of Shakespeare online. A vitally important resource. In fact,
the Internet Public Libaray itself is a pretty fantastic place.
Merriam Webster Online
Webster's dictionary online. Has a nifty feature which pulls up possible matches for misspelled words.
That's why I go there often.
American Heritage Dictionary
My favorite English prof staged a little dictionary comparison exercise in class one day.
The result? American Heritage has the most clear, in-depth definitions -- better than Webster's. (But no
little spell-proof word finder.) If you know how to spell it, and want more information, go here.
Webopedia
"The only online dictionary and search engine you need for computer and Internet technology."
The World-Wide Wilde Web
Source of much Wilde-ness. Including this quote from another favorite clever person, Dorothy Parker,
"If, with the literate, I am/ Impelled to make an epigram,/ I never seek to take the credit;/ We all assume
that Oscar said it."
Cascading Style Sheets, level 2
The spec sheet for CSS2 from the W3C.
HTML Validation Service and
CSS Validation Service
Happy tools from the W3C.
Web Pages That Suck
This is just kind of funny. Boy, there are a lot of BAAAD pages out there.
Silicon Valley Webgrrls
I've participated in this group off and on -- mostly when I've been unemployed. A fascinating group of
intelligent women. Useful resources page.
Philosophe.com A thoughtful approach to web site
quality.
Useful thoughts on web site, testing, quality control, and quality assurance. (Yup, they're different.)
ArtToday
Free web art... well, free if you don't mind getting frequent emails urging you to upgrade to paid membership. And if I were looking to use things professionally, I might -- great images, and lots of 'em. As it is, I just hit "delete" -- delete... delete... delete...
Only some of the images are free. But if you're looking for something specific, it's worth a try. They've redesigned their site, and it looks spiffy. Easier to use.
Kabalarians Name Site
Ok, these people are a little crazy, but it's interesting to hear what they have to say about
your name and why it affects who you are. Are they right about you?
Check it out!
S-P-O-N-G-E
I don't know WHAT Broon is up to now, but it sure is weird.
Clipart Castle
Free clip art with castle/medieval/fantasy themes. We like free. Some of the wallpapers are really nice.
BBspot
Tech humor.
The Brunching Shuttlecocks
Ummm... humor. Various authors. Hard to describe.
Strafe's Guide
Cyberpunk slang dictionary. Love it, love it, love it.
I know information is power.
I know the street has its own use for things.
I know there ain't much you can't solve, given enough fucking RAM.
